The Bose Corporation started in 1964 after the founder of the company, Amar Bose, bought a high end stereo sound system in 1956 and found it to come well short of his expectations. At the time he was a graduate student at MIT in electrical engineering (he is now a professor in the same field) and with his limited knowledge of sound waves he felt that although the sound system did well it missed its target, which is the human part in sound.
He called this psychoacoustics – the listener’s part of the system and started working on his system to see what improvements he could bring along. By 1964 he was well on his way and that was when he started the Bose Corporation with its slogan “Better Sound Through Research” which fitted well with his vision at the time.

The company’s high end speakers are also sold by many other retailers and specialist sound stores as its popularity and the need for something of this quality and standard can not be denied.
